Kids Bathroom Reno

It took us almost 7 years to finally get to renovating the kids/hallway bathroom. It was in dire condition and it was a necessity to renovate as it was literally falling apart and no longer functional.

I wanted a classic bathroom with a little whimsy and it was really fun coming up with ideas on how to design this small 5’x7’ space. Changing the floorpan wasn’t an option but I knew I wanted to switch out the location and size of the window to provide more privacy. Also I wanted niches so that I can use them for storage and not have all kinds of products lingering around the edges of the tub.

This is the image from the listing company from when we purchased the home. I wish I had taken pictures before the renovation but this will do.

Here’s the same space down to the studs. We redid the pluming and added insulation all around and cement board in the shower surround and the floors.

It’s amazing how the same space can look so much bigger with the right colors and design choices.

I need to do a better job photographing this space because of the light situation but you get the point.

My favorite part of this whole makeover is the fact that the floors match the niches. It just makes me happy.

My biggest pet peeve is towel rings and wet towels so when renovating all the bathrooms we opted for towel bars even at the vanities. This allows me to layer towels when needed and also insures that all towels remain dry.

By relocating the outlet from where is now the towel bar to over the toilet it insures that it’s far enough from water and allows me to add nightlights and/or plug-ins. Also very convenient since most people are right-handed to have any electronics …

No more white grout on any floor surfaces in the house is a WIN!
