The Story Behind Our Name:

Everything Duchess

It was early on in our marriage, just the two of us.  We lay in bed on our backs during what must’ve been mid-morning to early afternoon observing the ceiling fan as is continuously circled above us.  We were talking about how I would one day want to have a store front and we were coming up with names.  We went through a bunch of names and reasons for them but first here’s a little background about me.  I’ve always loved those historic romance novels that would take you back centuries in a European setting somewhere.  You know the ones with the pretty ladies on the cover sporting curly updos and satin dresses full of intricacies. The ones that take you back to a time that was full of “finer things”.  The ones you basically pick up while you’re in a pharmacy line waiting for your medication.  Anyway, i’ve always loved feminine details and intricate finishes and all of a sudden my husband blurts our “Everything Duchess”.   I was like “that’s it, I love it” and then life happened and we went on to be blessed with kids and we moved to a new house.  The dream was always their lingering upon my head but i never really pursued anything.  Fast forward to a few years later we’re trying to look up the model’s name to our house to get an accurate square footage of our place and we were shocked and surprised to find out that our model was a DUCHESS!  We didn’t know that years after we picked a name that we would buy a “she-house” named Duchess.  I don’t know if initially picking the name was an omen that we would buy a house named that or if buying the house was an omen to keep the name we picked.  Regardless, we believe in omens and the name popped up so many times during this time so basically for us Everything Duchess is Everything Home.
